My Goal

As will probably be evident as you continue reading, I have never written a blog before.

I also haven't really written anything for fun since Creative Writing 101 in college.

But I thought since I'll have more time than I know what to do with while I'm in recovery, writing about my experiences and what I have learned could be a fun way to pass the time and hopefully help someone who may be doing what I did when I first got my diagnosis: Googling "I have Chiari malformation, now what."

I was lucky going into my diagnosis that I had a rough idea of what lay ahead from what little I learned about my condition in medical school. I have also been incredibly lucky to have the recovery I am having so far, so I want to use my energy towards something that feels a little more productive than another puzzle (not that I don't love a good puzzle).

While I am on medical leave from school, I want to share what has worked for me, what hasn't, and what my experiences with my Chiari I and syringomyelia have been like in hopes of creating a source of support for people who are in a similar situation.
